BFP celebrates March as Fire Prevention Month

BACOLOD
CITY, Feb. 28 (PNA)-The Bacolod City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFB)
will celebrate its annual Fire Prevention Month with the theme:
“Sustaining Fire Prevention through Active Community Participation”, on
March 1-31.
BFB Fire Marshal, officer in-charge, Pamela Rojane Candido,
said that in line with the celebration, the city’s BFB station would
conduct a series of activities such as motorcade, concelebrated mass,
4th quiz bee, poster making contest at Gaisano City Mall, house to house
fire safety inspection; fire drill (public elementary school within
Negros Occidental, Sine sa Barangay, 2nd photo exhibit at SM Bacolod,
fire drill at New Government Center, fire Olympics at SM Bacolod North,
medical-dental mission, and fun run OPFM to Capitol Lagoon.
She said they would conduct intensification of fire safety
inspection, fire safety information drive and fire drill on public and
private establishments and other institutions.
City Mayor Evelio Leonardia said that the fire protection
month celebration “should be seriously participated, so that we will be
educated on the importance of fire safety tips to avoid lost of lives
and properties.”
He said that some areas of the city had been hit by fire
that resulted to deaths by some people and damage to properties.
Fire Prevention Month celebration is by virtue of
Presidential Proclamation No. 115-A which aims to create public
awareness on the importance of fire safety and prevention. (PNA)
