19th PNP Day celebration to honor performing units, outstanding cops in Western Visayas

ILOILO CITY, Feb. 10 (PNA) – A total of 18 awardees will receive recognition on Wednesday as one of the highlights of the 19th Philippine National Police Day (PNP) Day celebration here in Western Visayas.

The event that will be held at the Camp Martin Delgado will have for its guest Director Rey Roderos, head of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations (DIPO) in the Visayas to lead the presentation of awards to outstanding police units, personnel, institutions and other partner organizations for the 2009 period.

The awardees include the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) that was adjudged as the model provincial police office for 2009; San Carlos City Police Station, for urban police station; EB Magalona Municipal Police Station, rural police station; 608th Provincial Mobile Group, model provincial maneuver unit; Regional Crime Laboratory Office, model national operational support unit for administration and Regional Maritime Office 6, model national operational support unit for operations.

Also, a special award will be presented to the 6th Regional Mobile Group; C/Inspt Gilbert Gorero who was one of the finalists for the Lead PNP Award in 2009; S/Inspt. Lourdes Banzuelo of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) Police Community Relations; PO2 Rina de la Cruz Salaya of the Maasin Municipal Police Station and Nelson Cajilig of the Regional Personnel and Human Resource Development and the Iloilo City Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) for being adjudged as the model BPAT in 2009.

Individual awards will be given to Dr. Victor D. Andrade, Pastor Celino Villarete, Central Philippine University TV Channel, DYLL Radyo ng Bayan, The News Today and the SMARTCOM, Inc.

The anniversary celebration will also be highlighted by the turning over of patrol cars to 27 selected local police stations under the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO 6). (PNA)
