DAVAO CITY, March 28 (PNA) – The Ayala Land, Inc. will open soon Kukun Hotel in Davao City, its second hotelbrand, right in front of Abreeza Mall, the Ayala Mall in this city.
Ayala Land, Inc. vice president Maria Rowena Tomeldan, who is also operations and support services commercial business group head, said in a press briefing on Monday at Abreeza Mall that Kukun Hotel is scheduled to formally open on the first quarter next year.
She described the hotel as “very modern” with about 186 rooms that will be located at the front side of Abreeza Mall.
Tomeldan said within this year, the hotel would open its four-storey business process outsourcing (BPO) building right from the malls’ 4th floor up to the 7th floor.
She said new and best brands would be seen at the upcoming BPO building to maintain its goal of bringing “the first and best in Davao.”
At the mall’s 3rd floor will also surface the retail stores where Davaoeños could enjoy the retail experience, said Clavel Tongo, Abreeza Mall general manager.
She said that the mall was now 95 percent leased out.
She said top local retailers as well as three big new international brands with big names would dominate the retailers section.
She, however, reserved to name the first big brands and assured to reveal as soon as the tenants confirmed their presence next month.
Gel Ferrer, Ayala Malls marketing manager, said Kukun Hotel-Davao is the second Ayala Hotel brand in the Philippines, the first is at Fort Bonifacio at the National Capital Region. The hotel is another major project within the multi-billion mixed-use Ayala Complex in Davao City.
After almost a year since Abreeza Mall opened in May, 2011, it also continued heading to an upward trend.
Luigi Escano, Abreeza Mall operations manager, named some of the upcoming new and first brands to open in Abreeza Mall soon among others, as Posh Nails, Crispy Cream, Highlands Coffee (one of Vietnam’s best coffee).
“We want to provide Davao with new experiences in terms of taste and fashion,” he said.
Tomeldan also underscored that the Ayala Land, Inc., principal owner of Abreeza Mall, would maintain its another major goal to give space to homegrown concepts at the mall.
She said the management targeted to accommodate 10 to 15 home grown business products or services at the mall.
At present best homegrown (of Davao and Mindanao) concepts include among others, Tsuru, Hanoi, Grab a Crab, Mandarin Tea Garden, TADECO or Tagum Agriculture Development Company, Mindanao Pearl Center, Pearl Farm, Soul, Ranchero Grill, and Jewels by Allison.
She said Abreeza Mall also recently launched its Green Friday in line with its advocacy for the environment.
Ayala Malls launched Green Fridays, a campaign to encourage shoppers to minimize the use of non-biodegradable packaging when shopping and make it a habit to use an eco-bag to save the environment.
Speaking of entertainment, Ferrer said Abreeza Mall had its own unique events and artists.
Upcoming events include Sam Concepcion live at Abreeza, the famous Someday Dream and famous singer Nina and foreign star Ian Somerhalder of the Vampire Diaries on April 29, she said. (PNA)
