DOLE 6 slates 2 simultaneous job fairs on Labor Day in Iloilo
ILOILO CITY, April 24 (PNA) – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI)-Iloilo Chapter will be holding two simultaneous job fairs in this part of the country this May 1.
This was the consensus reached by the organizers during an emergency meeting held at the DOLE office Monday afternoon .
A separate job fairs will be held at the Amigo Plaza Mall for business process outsourcing (BPOs) companies and at the SM City for other local job vacancies and overseas placement agencies.
Labor information officer Amy Judicpa said close to 1,000 jobs in the call center sector are up for grabs while already the PCCI has estimated some 500 local vacancies from their member-establishments.
Also, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) is waiting for the final approval of the participation of three overseas placement agencies in addition to the 36 confirmed agencies.
The target overseas job placement is pegged at 1,550 for household service workers and 2,450 for skilled and professional workers.
The conduct of job fair is a local initiative according to PCCI-Iloilo chapter president Joeboy Agriam.
Meanwhile, Judicpa said they looked forward to a 15-percent hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) during the one-day activity. (PNA)
