Uratex foam maker builds factories in Davao, Cagayan de Oro
MANILA, March 18 (PNA) — Multiflex RNC Phils, Inc., the maker of the country’s leading foam and mattress brand Uratex, is embarking on factory expansion projects in Mindanao to meet increasing demand for its product here and abroad.
“For Davao (factory), we are expecting to open this year and Cagayan de Oro probably early next year. (We set up factories there) because mattresses are very bulky to carry and to transport,” said company sales director Dindo Medina in an interview.
Medina said these new manufacturing plants will bring the firm’s total network to 16 factories, including those located in Bulacan, Quezon City, Pasig City, Alabang, Cavite, Naga and Cebu.
He said they are optimistic on sales growth this year, banking on the Philippine continued economic growth and export opportunities.
“The market is growing…We normally follow growth rates of the country and we try to exceed GDP (gross domestic product) forecast of the country,” Medina noted.
He said the company currently sells around 10,000 premium mattresses per year.
But while bulk or about 95 percent of the total production goes to the local market, Medina said that export sales are also contributing to the company’s total revenues.
“We predominantly serve the domestic market…We see exports only as opportunities. We have exports in European countries, we have also exported to Guam, Micronesia, to certain parts of Southeast Asia and we also exported to Japan,” he said.
Apart from manufacturing specialized mattresses and pillows, Multiflex RNC of the RGC Foam Group also supplies foam for multinational automotive companies, footwear, garments and technical applications.
Since Uratex has an ISO certification 9001-2008, it follows global standards. (PNA)
